Properties: 

White or colorless crystal, weathered in the air easily. It is soluble in water, organic solvent insoluble. Aqueous solution is alkaline. The relative density is 1.62 and melting point at 73.4°C.   

Uses: 

As water softener, boiler detergent, metal antirust, textile mercerizing enhancer for industrial uses; as improver, emulsifying agent, nutritional supplement and flour alkaline agent for food uses.
